Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showmen and Boater Students

We are committed to encouraging students to enter higher education from all backgrounds and cultures including students from Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showmen and Boater families.

We strive to create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive both personally and in their education. To ensure this we have signed up to the GRTSB into HE pledge. Our commitment is outlined in the video and points below:

<¹û¶³´«Ã½ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥>Support we offer

We are committed in supporting you, from before your course begins, during your course and as you progress onto your employment of choice, we can therefore provide practical advice, information and support, including:

  • General support - You can contact our Widening Participation team before and during your studies on [email protected].
  • Employability support - We offer a priority appointment with the Employability Service within 6 weeks of your course start date. You can also access this service before you start your course, by contacting [email protected].
  • Wellbeing support - We provide guaranteed appointments with the Wellbeing Service within the first month of your course start date, covering information about support with study skills, libraries and disability and inclusion. Please see below more information on our Wellbeing Service. 
  • Accommodation support - Our accommodation team can provide advice including the option of accommodation for 52 weeks of the year.
  • Financial support - We also recognise that the cost of living crisis is a big consideration when deciding to take up study, here you can find out more about how we can support you, in addition to whether you would be eligible for any of our scholarships or bursaries.
    We have a digital hardship fund to help towards the costs of buying essential IT equipment, if you study with us, check if you are eligible.

We have many digital systems that you will use whilst studying with us, here you will find our central hub of .

We appreciate that some circumstances may impact your ability to sit assessments as scheduled, home students can refer to our Extension, Deferrals and Mitigating Circumstances Policy in this instance.

We have lots of location options for studying with us, with multiple campuses in the UK, so you can easily commute to us. We also have the option to study remotely via ULaw Online.

With CampuSwitch, you can start your course at one campus, then apply to move to another to continue and complete your studies.

<¹û¶³´«Ã½ÊÓÆµÖ±²¥>Wellbeing Service

Our dedicated Wellbeing teams are there to support you if you need advice or guidance. Our wellbeing teams have details of GRTSB local organisations to our campuses if you would like to be put in touch.

We have a Student Assistance Programme where you can access 24/7 support, counselling services in different languages and with counsellors from a range of cultural backgrounds, and other wellbeing resources.
